TLDR Africa is operated by TLDR Africa ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.

1. Who We Are

TLDR Africa is a newsletter and digital media platform delivering African business, technology, and economic intelligence to professionals across Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and the wider continent. Our website is tldrafrica.com.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you use our platform.

Information you provide directly includes your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter, your first name if you choose to provide it during signup, your topic preferences and country selection if you set them, any information you include when you contact us by email, and any information you submit when applying for a job listing or submitting a story tip.

Information collected automatically when you visit tldrafrica.com includes your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit and the time you spend on them, the links you click within our emails and on our website, the device and operating system you are using, and referral source information showing how you arrived at our site.

We also receive data from our email delivery provider when you open an edition or click a link inside it. This tells us that an email was opened or that a link was clicked, associated with your subscriber record.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes.

To deliver our newsletter to your inbox on the days and at the frequency you signed up for.

To personalise the content and editions we send you based on the topic preferences and country you selected at signup.

If you prefer not to be tracked, you can disable image loading in your email client, which will prevent open tracking. Link clicks cannot be prevented if you choose to click them.

If we are required to disclose your information by law, court order, or government authority, we will do so. We will notify you where legally permitted to do so.

TLDR Africa operates primarily from Nigeria and serves readers across Africa and internationally. Some of our third-party service providers are based outside Africa, including in the United States and the European Union.

9. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your subscriber data for as long as you remain subscribed to TLDR Africa. If you unsubscribe, we retain a record of your email address on our suppression list to ensure we do not accidentally re-add you and send you emails you did not request. This is a legal and operational requirement, not a marketing one.

If you request complete deletion of your data, we will remove your record from our suppression list as well, but we cannot guarantee you will not be re-added if you sign up again in the future.

We retain anonymised analytics data for longer periods for the purpose of understanding long-term usage trends.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights in relation to your personal data.
