Morocco's ORA Technologies raises $10M Series A to build payments and food delivery super app

Tech Build Africa Jul 13, 2026

TL;DR

Moroccan startup ORA Technologies extended its Series A to $10 million, bringing total funding to nearly $12 million since launching in 2023, to grow its ORA Cash mobile wallet and Kooul food delivery platform toward a super app model.

Intelligence

The round was led by Azur Innovation Fund alongside other local Moroccan investors, a notable shift signalling that domestic capital is beginning to back startups beyond the seed stage, reducing dependence on international venture capital.

Kooul reached over 15,000 active customers in its first ten months, while ORA Cash signed up more than 50,000 users within five months of launch, with delivery riders using the wallet to digitise cash-on-delivery payments in a predominantly cash-based market.

ORA's raise is a meaningful signal for North Africa's venture ecosystem. Domestic Moroccan capital is beginning to fund growth-stage rounds that would previously have required foreign venture firms. This is a dynamic that if it holds, could insulate Moroccan founders from the volatility of global VC sentiment.

The super app strategy ORA is pursuing mirrors approaches being tested across West and East Africa, where bundling payments, commerce, and logistics into a single platform is increasingly seen as the most defensible path in markets where digital payment adoption is still maturing and user acquisition costs are high.

Founders in Egypt, Tunisia, and francophone West Africa, markets with similarly cash-heavy consumer economies should watch whether ORA's model of using delivery riders as a cash digitisation channel translates into sustained wallet activity, as this could become a replicable playbook for hybrid fintech-logistics businesses across the continent.

The harder test ahead is converting early registration numbers into daily active financial behaviour, which remains the defining challenge for mobile wallet operators from Casablanca to Lagos.
